Legal & Policies

These policies describe the current platform behavior and should receive Alaska attorney review before commercial launch.

Privacy Policy

AK Aurora Access collects customer account information, guest contact details submitted through captive-portal forms, device/session identifiers such as IP address and MAC address, router health and network telemetry, support and warranty communications, access-plan and PIN records, customer branding assets/contact display information, and payment metadata received from connected payment providers.

Payment card data is processed by the configured payment provider. AK Aurora Access does not intentionally store full payment card numbers, CVV values, or full card-track data. Payment card details are handled by the configured payment provider, such as a customer-connected Square account.

Information is used to provide guest Wi-Fi access, operate captive portal authentication, support customers, monitor routers, troubleshoot service, process access records, reduce fraud and misuse, maintain legal/audit records, and communicate about service requests.

Information is currently stored and processed on servers located in Germany. Customers are responsible for giving their guests appropriate notices for their own business operations and payment terms.

Data may be shared with service providers only as needed to operate hosting, email, payment, security, support, and network-management functions, or when legally required.

Retention depends on operational, billing, fraud-prevention, support, legal, and security requirements. Cookies and session technologies are used for sign-in, captive portal workflow, and security.

AK Aurora Access is not intended for children to purchase paid access without appropriate customer policy and applicable legal compliance. Legal requests should be sent through the published business contact channel.

Acceptable Use Policy

Users may not use AK Aurora Access networks for illegal activity, unauthorized system or network access, credential attacks, malware, spam, harassment, threats, exploitation, copyright infringement, fraud, payment abuse, network disruption, excessive resource consumption, or activity that creates legal, security, or reputational risk.

Users may not circumvent speed, session, device, payment, voucher, PIN, captive portal, or access-control limits; resell or share access without authorization; tamper with routers; interfere with NoDogSplash/captive controls; or attempt to access AK Aurora management systems.

Customers and users may not install unsupported firmware, modify router management settings, bypass access controls, or attempt to access router management interfaces without AK Aurora Access authorization. Unauthorized changes may affect support and warranty eligibility.

AK Aurora Access and the customer may suspend, limit, terminate, or investigate access to protect users, customers, routers, payment systems, and the platform. Filtering and monitoring cannot guarantee detection of all prohibited activity.

Customers remain responsible for their guests and business-specific policies. AK Aurora Access may cooperate with lawful investigations and preserves all available legal rights.

Terms of Service

The standard service model is a customer-purchased configured router plus AK Aurora Access hosted management service. Router purchase and monthly service are separate charges. The customer connects the router to customer-provided internet and pays a recurring per-router hosted management/support fee. Guest payments flow to the customer’s connected payment account unless a written agreement says otherwise.

Internet service is not included. Customers are responsible for providing and maintaining compatible Starlink, cellular, cable, fiber, DSL, business internet, or other Ethernet-delivered service. Availability, performance, coverage, installation timing, and support response depend on site conditions, upstream providers, power, cabling, switches, weather, radio environment, customer cooperation, access-plan settings, guest activity, and selected service terms.

Each router is designed for up to 20 simultaneous guest connections as a planning guideline, not a performance guarantee. Larger sites may require multiple routers, separate Ethernet connections, and sufficient power or compatible PoE+ ports.

Basic customer branding is included. Extended custom design work may cost extra. AK Aurora Access may remotely manage supported routers, apply software/security updates, monitor health, and queue safe router commands.

Customers are responsible for access-plan prices, manual PIN sales, refunds, chargebacks, fraud handling, business licensing, taxes, consumer disclosures, staff behavior, payment-provider interruptions, and guest communications unless a written agreement assigns responsibility differently.

AK Aurora Access may remotely manage routers, apply updates, monitor health, queue safe router commands, suspend access for misuse or nonpayment, and maintain audit/security records. Security controls reduce risk but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or attack-proof service.

Setup/device charges, monthly fees, support scope, maintenance windows, data retention, intellectual property, warranty disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, force majeure, termination, notice procedures, and Alaska governing law/venue should be finalized in the customer agreement and reviewed by counsel.

Active Service Hardware Warranty

Routers purchased directly from AK Aurora Access are covered by an active-service hardware warranty for as long as the associated AK Aurora Access subscription remains active and the account is in good standing.

If a router malfunctions or becomes inoperable because of a qualifying internal hardware failure, the customer may request a replacement device. AK Aurora Access will provide a replacement router configured for the customer’s account and service location after administrator review and approval.

Exclusions include loss, theft, intentional damage, misuse, unauthorized modification, unsupported firmware changes, improper power supplies, unapproved PoE equipment, power surge, liquid damage, fire, extreme environmental exposure, physical damage, customer or third-party damage, customer-provided modem failure, Starlink equipment failure, cellular equipment failure, access-point failure, cabling failure, switch failure, PoE splitter damage unless separately covered, customer power-source failure, and underlying internet failure.

Standard replacement shipping is included for approved qualifying warranty replacements. Expedited replacement shipping may be charged at cost unless waived by an administrator. Remote Alaska delivery times are not guaranteed. Replacement devices may be new, refurbished, or functionally equivalent. Return of the failed router may be required when disclosed.
